you do not have to be unemployed to draw SS against his benefits.

and you can not do so until you are 62. I believe that the SSA will talk to you about this if you are within a few months of becoming 62.

you may not draw on his unemployment at all — only yours and then only after you are laid off.

Go to the Social Security website. You cannot collect his “unemployment.” He may have a retirement account you could get.

You are not eligible for early retirement until age 62. Your benefits will be somewhat less than if you wait for the full retirement age, probably 66. The website will let you calculate the difference. You will not get Medicare until 66.

Not only will you get less with early retirement, but you will lose $1 for every $2 you earn until you reach full retirement age. It’s not quite that simple, but you can get it all at the SSA website.

You may choose your husband’s SS if it would be better for you.

SS, yes you can receive it. If you missed it at 60, I don’t know if you will have to wait til 62, but I’m doubting it.
“Widows and widowers can begin receiving Social Security benefits at age 60″
“a woman could take a reduced widow’s benefit at 60 or 62 and then switch to her full (100 percent) retirement benefit when she reaches full retirement age. The rules vary depending on the situation, so you should talk to a Social Security representative about the options available to you.”
Combined with unemployment.. maybe.. I guess it would depend upon the amount of SS you receive. Earnings may cause a reduction in SS.
