Is law school really hell on earth?
Tomorrow is my initial day as the college senior. Fall division begins. we already took the LSAT in Jun as well as i did improved than i expected. My GPA is tall sufficient for law propagandize as well as i have additional curriculum activities as well as internships. So i’m not disturbed about either or not i can get supposed in to the law propagandize i’m some-more disturbed about Fall 2009. When i begin in attendance my initial year of law school. From what i listen to law propagandize is HELL upon earth. Especially the initial year. I’m disturbed i won’t tarry the volume of work which the professors design to be done. I’ve been told prior to your initial category starts in Aug we already have to know identical to 100 cases which was reserved as well as afterwards short afterwards in front of the total category which uses the socratic method. If we do not know it we get kicked out of class. College is we review twenty pages for the single category or so as well as you’re done. Law propagandize is we review 1000 pages for the single category as well as we need to be means to review as well as contrariety cases which have been all similar. Is it unequivocally true? is law propagandize unequivocally as difficult as people contend it is? Do the lot of people dump out?

Somebody was trying to scare you. I loved law school, personally. It is more work than undergraduate classes, but not ridiculous. Before the first class each semester a few of our teachers would assign a couple of cases, or a chapter to read, not 100 cases! And yes, we had to have read them and know them pretty well. In some classes we did have to present the case (we were supposed to brief them ahead of time as part of our reading) in class, but no one ever got kicked out of class if they didn’t know a case. I know a much older man who says that when he was in law school, they used to embarrass people who weren’t well-enough prepared, but that doesn’t really happen any more, unless you have a jerk of a professor.
I would say that for each class we had about 50 pages of reading to do, not 1000. And the cases weren’t similar, other than that they were chosen to illustrate certain legal principles. I should add that I did law school while working a far-more-than-full-time job. It was hard, but possible.
As for dropping out, that depends very much on your school. Some are very particular in admissions and then of those who get in, most make it to the end. We were told that we could expect 3% of our class to drop out and 3% to flunk out. I think only a few flunked out, but we had a lot more drop-outs, but it was not, for the most part, because it was too hard for them. In fact, one of the people who dropped out after the first year was the person who had done the best up to that point. People dropped out because they realized that it just wasn’t what they thought it would be, or because personal issues, such as illness or family problems, took priority.
As I said, I loved it. It was interesting, challenging, and fun. I was in school with a lot of really bright people who now, 9 years after graduating, I’m still in touch with, in many cases. I had some brilliant professors (and, as at any school, a few awful ones). I learned things which have helped me not only professionally, but in life in general. Don’t let people try to discourage you, if you think it might be something you want to pursue.
Well, it is definitely very difficult. You really should not go if you can’t get into a very high ranking school or you will be eaten alive in an extremely competitive job market. By high ranking I mean top 20.
Law school is really tough, but it’s still not hell on earth. It all depends acually. If you are gonna go to Harvard, it mite be hell on earth, but a school like, say, Suffolk Law, won’t be as hard. The first year is actually pretty tough- I have heard this from people who have been law students. After the first year of law school, its gets easier. I would suggest you read some books about getting into law school and the truth about it, and so forth. Don’t go into Law school, expecting to breeze by. It will be a LOT of reading for sure, it is law school after all. And, yes a lot of people do drop out, but really, its depends on each person. Time manage, and work smart not hard. If you are assigned 1000 pages, u don’t have to read all 1000, u can read half and skim the half. If there is will, there is a way! So don’t give up! It’s only 3 years.
Good luck,
Troublemaker
