When we try to trim their nails, they won’t let me since they keep upon moving.

If, they truly won’t let you( e.g. biting, running away…), then you’ll probably have to take him/her to the vet. After it’s been done, you can prevent them from getting to long again by taking your dog on regular walk. If you have concrete sidewalks, it will wear down the dogs nails without the need for trimming.
Take To The Vet
I use a team approach – my husband holds the dog still and I clip the nails. Every so often, he’ll give the dog a piece of kibble as a treat for behaving.
